Today is World Environment Day-June 5
World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated on 5 June every year, and it is the United Nations’ principal vehicle for the protection of the environment. World Environment Day has grown to become a global platform with participation from over 143 countries annually.
World Environment Day was established in 1972 by the United Nations on the first day of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment, resulting from discussions on the integration of human interactions and the environment. WED celebration has been held annually since 1974.
The food we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink and the climate that makes our planet inhabitable all come from nature. Despite all the benefits that our nature gives us, we still mistreat it and for this, we must work to finish with it and we must look after our planet.
